Dr. Shirazi made me cry. I had an appointment months ago for a routine cleaning. He inspected my mouth and did Periodontal charting with a dental assistant. He rated my gums as 4 to 7, indicating gum disease. I was then left alone in the room after he suggested laser treatments to kill the bacteria in my gumline. He showed me a video and then I was given a quote from the dental assistant for a few thousand dollars worth of treatments. I refused the treatment and asked for a regular cleaning; I wanted to get the treatment I came there for. After my refusal, the Dr. angrily came into my room and told me something along the lines of- he thinks I should go to another dentist if I’m going to refuse treatment and commented on my HMO insurance plan only covering polishing (basically a superficial clean). Whatever he said, his tone was angry, he stormed out after that, and I was in shock that he spoke to me that way. After he left, the dental assistant came back in and I pleaded with them to do my teeth cleaning and told them I was confused about the quote and what exactly the treatment was. I had no idea what I was being offered, they just expected me to trust their judgement and sign off on it. After that, the Dr. came back into my room and I began crying because I was in such shock and didn’t understand why I couldn’t get a cleaning, even if I did have gum disease. Dr. Shirazi’s anger softened after seeing my tears and he more calmly explained that he couldn’t do my dental cleaning in good faith because it would be like he was ignoring my gum disease; basically he didn’t want to give me treatment that would indicate medical negligence on his behalf. This had something to do with the fact that my HMO only covered a superficial polishing for the cleaning, not scaling. Dr. Shirazi ended up giving me a referral to see a Periodontist. That action was enough for me to give him 2-stars, but I would not recommend him as your primary dentist. Like others mentioned, he will try to upsell treatments and it’s very difficult to trust if they are necessary and effective/ backed by evidence. The cherry on top of this experience is that the periodontist I saw for a consultation told me I did NOT have gum disease and found my gums to be irritated, but not “diseased.” I ended up paying $200 out of pocket for a cleaning from my Periodontist after that consultation because I knew the process of finding another dentist would be time-consuming. The dental hygienist there praised my oral hygiene and told me to “keep doing whatever I was doing.” It’s crazy what a difference a kind provider will make to your confidence and oral hygiene. I’m grateful for Dr. Shirazi’s referral but everything else from my experience with him was quite unpleasant. I think he has good intentions but has lost his way 🤷‍♀️.

My son tells me you only polished his teeth after you had him sit in the chair for 1.5 hours. There was no usual scraping or flossing. As a 16 year old, he has plenty of experience with good hygenists. Don't think you will bill my insurance and get paid without a complaint to Delta Dental Enhanced Plan.

It was my first time at this dentist, and I left without treatment. After 25 minutes of waiting, I asked the receptionist when I would be seen, and she said “let me see if he’s back from lunch.” Why would they schedule my appointment when the dentist or hygienist is on lunch break? I had signed the multitude of forms I was asked to fill out, but didn’t sign a HIPAA release that included releasing all health information, including HIV, mental health services, and substance abuse. I felt none of this was relevant to seeing a dentist. I said I would be happy to sign a release of all dental information, and signed it crossing out those things I felt were not relevant. As far as I know, it is illegal to require the release of personal health information. They refused to see me and canceled my appointment. At this point it was 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment. What the hell?

I haven’t really had a great experience with other dentists but this one is different they helped me out a lot and I’ve been seeing them for a few years now and they truly helped out my teeth a bunch and the place is very welcoming. Dr. Shirazi has been great and flexible we come all the way from the AV!! He was the only one that accepted the challenge to work on my teeth.

Completely dissatisfied. Felt like a scam. I went in for a routine cleaning and they told me it would be $175. When I said I need to call my insurance because I never have a copay, a minute later (not exaggerating) the receptionist said nevermind, that it would be no charge. But I did have to pay for photos, which then were not even looked at by the dentist. The hygienist was very nice and gentle but they didn’t even do a full cleaning, which is unusual. They only did toothpaste and flossing but no scraping. No Xrays. Just completely out of the norm. Then, they wanted to charge me an additional $400 for antibiotics, even though they didn’t look at the photos. It felt like a scam to get my money. Will not be going back. I called my insurance later and apparently my February appointment had not been sent to the insurance so there was no record of that. Very sketchy.
