Mid-Wilshire Dental Care

Came here for a second opinion. I felt they were much more honest about what I really needed done and didn't try to over sell me on services. They understood I was on a budget and helped me figure out my insurance and the best way financially to get the work I needed done. I feel like they genuinely care about my well-being. I have recommended this practice to others and they too have been very happy.

I was a patient for 7 years and the dental issues I had were never addressed and not resolved. The dentists at Mid-Wilshire Dental Care made several mistakes, which caused me to have an injured popping jaw, severe headaches and severe infections. Later, I was in pain from a crown placed on an infected tooth. The dentist understood I wanted it extracted. She said that the crown would be the solution. I had to find another dentist to perform an emergency tooth removal from an incorrect crown placed on a decayed tooth. I addressed my pain and issues to Mid-Wilshire Dental care and they just said, "We're observing the tooth" I complained about the crown incorrectly done, they just shrugged and said there's nothing they can do about this. The assistant to the dentist had to reseal the crown because the dentist did not know how. The hidden fees and the lack of communication were the main reasons I left, the first time. The unprofessionalism from the Dentist and my concerns for their mistakes were not an interest. There is no patient concerns from this dental facility. This was the absolute worst experience I've ever experienced.

I went here in 2019 for a consultation because I thought I needed wisdom teeth out. They proceeded to try and get me to pull at 2-3 different teeth and get implants. I knew I had cavities but have never been recommended this so I took my X-rays and went elsewhere. It’s been 6 years and I've have one cavity filled and just recently I need one root canal and the doctor said she wants to try and preventative first. No pain, no teeth pulled. I recently came across the email from this office and decided to google them. I see people are having similar problems to me and I’m here to tell you Keep.Your. Teeth. Go somewhere with PREVENTATIVE care or someone trying to save your teeth, not straight to surgery. Bad practice and are clearly after money.

Dr. Afar and his staff are kind, attentive, and excellent at their job. I’ve had everything from cleanings, to cavity fillings, to gum graft surgery, and could not recommend their office more. As someone with genetically bad teeth and gums, I’m very anxious about dental work, but I know I am in good hands at Mid-Wilshire Dental Care. I am recovering from gum graft surgery and Dr. Afar has been so attentive every step of the way, always making me feel safe and supported. Azi, the hygienist who does my cleanings, is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met and is truly incredibly good at her job — I would trust her with my life! Leandra and Stephanie at the front desk have helped me navigate the insurance process multiple times. I’ve been thinking about moving out of LA for a couple years now but one of the reasons I stay is because I do not want to risk going to another office!

This place will scam you. I went in for a simple teeth cleaning and was told I needed a root canal and that I had 3 cavities. I take extremely good care of my teeth and was surprised by this. I got the cavities taken care of but held off on the root canal. Several weeks later, I had a specialist confirm whether or not I needed a root canal. I in fact did not and was told my teeth looked exceptional. My guess is I really didn’t have cavities either. On top of this, I was charged $800 for a bill that should have been covered by my insurance. The receptionist couldn’t even pronounce my name right and my name was spelled wrong on my paper work. Don’t go here.
