Encino Smile Center: James Asaf DDS

DO NOT COME HERE. I was having some severe wisdom tooth pain and this office was the only place taking calls at the time. I was set up with an appointment the next morning. I arrive, take x-rays, and the doctor is not even in scrubs. He's wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Then, the receptionist tells me I need to remove the wisdom tooth immediately and get a bone graph (The doctor did not even tell me what was wrong). I am instantly suspicious and call my dentist, he tells me to leave as he has never heard of that. I go back in to tell the doctor that I will be leaving and he tells me he wants to show me something. I was worried about my X-ray so I decide to go back and see what he could have to say. He then offers to inject me with Novocain, I decline saying I do not want anything done. He then offers to put some numbing ointment on my wisdom tooth and clean the area so I am at least not in any pain, I accept. I start feeling intense pain on my gums. This is when the receptionist walks in and asks him what he is doing. He says he is making an incision on my gums. The receptionist was shocked and asked if I said I wanted to do that. Before I can respond, he says "well do you want me to leave her with an infection or not." I was shocked because I REPEATEDLY said I did not want him to do anything. The receptionist then charges me $100 and the doctor hands me a pill from his desk (not even in a bottle, just a random pill) not telling me what it is, and instructs me to take it. I did not take it. I went to a different doctor who did an amazing job, I did NOT need a bone graph and the incision he made on my gums caused me much worse issues. I am absolutely shocked at how this place has this many good reviews.This was the most unprofessional and sketchy doctor's office I have EVER been to. Please be safe and avoid this establishment.

I had an emergency root canal during a holiday weekend. My regular dentist was out of town; he accommodated me on a few hours notice. Good job. Been going for years now. Great Still great Still great Still great Been coming for years now.

This is the absolute best place you can go for your dental needs, not only is he very communicative he's honest they care about your health and what's best for you not money like most other places feels like I got worked on by a family member they are the kindest, best and most professional people I have came across in the dental industry I will always come here and recommend my family and friends! they took my partner in at 11 pm on a bad accident where she almost lost her two front teeth and saved her smile! Who else does that? That's right, no one these wonderful people are unmatched 100/10 recommend

The professionalism and friendliness of the whole team is outstanding. I’ve been going here for a complicated process and then for keeping up and cleaning. Every visit is like visiting friends. Dr. Asaf is hands down the best dentist in LA. He is honest and straight forward. I have been to other dentists that exaggerated what my needs were in order to make more money. So it was a relief to find a dentist with integrity.

3 years of catching up on my bad dental genetics and I finally feel confident in my smile because of this Office. Dr. Asafoetida is an angel with hands of gold. My friends referred Smile Center and have had fillings and veneers for 20+ years. I can't say enough good things. Todah!
