I have always been happy with the service and care at this office. They are very kind and gentle. I recently had a mix up with seeing an out of network dentist there but a quick phone call fixed everything for my next appointment. Would recommend this office to anyone and don't be afraid to call because they will help you out. :)
Long story short, I needed to get a root canal and new crown done. I found Dentists of Old Torrance through online reviews and called them. I spoke with Johana and she was extremely thorough and transparent (which is rare these days!). She fit me in within a week (which is also super rare), and I had my root canal and crown done today. The team is super professional, on-time, and I was in and out just like she said on the initial call! I would highly recommend them everyone!
This is not my first visit to this facility; however, I recently transitioned my entire family to this office because of its proximity to our home. Unfortunately, across several visits, I have experienced inconsistent and concerning customer service. On a previous visit, I arrived for a scheduled appointment and found the front office unattended. I waited approximately 10 minutes before anyone came out to assist me. When this was addressed, the individual I later learned was the office manager stated, “Oh, well I was just here and no one was here.” I explained that after waiting several minutes, I walked toward the back, where another employee informed me that the manager was in a meeting and would be with me shortly. It was concerning that the only front-office staff member was in a meeting despite scheduled appointments. Today’s experience was significantly more troubling. I arrived at 9:27 a.m. for my 9:30 a.m. appointment. After waiting several minutes to check in, I was informed the office was running approximately 10 minutes behind and that I would be seen shortly. At 10:10 a.m. over 30 minutes later I was finally called back and seen by the periodontist. The visit itself was brief, and I was provided a verbal treatment plan. A dental assistant then escorted me to the front desk and handed my paperwork directly to the office manager, who was seated at her computer. I was told she would be with me shortly. All seating was occupied, so I stood and waited for approximately 10 minutes. I briefly stepped out to place my purse in my car and then returned. While I was standing, another assistant brought out a different patient, handed that same manager paperwork, and that patient was immediately assisted and scheduled without any communication or explanation provided to me. After continuing to wait, I approached the manager and asked why another patient was assisted before me, even though my paperwork had been handed to her first. Her response was, “Oh, she was seated and waiting.” I explained that I had also been waiting, and that the patient she assisted arrived after me. I had observed her walk in while I was still waiting more than 30 minutes for my appointment. Only then did the manager look down, notice my paperwork, and state, “Oh, well I can email you your treatment plan so you don’t have to wait.” That conversation occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. As of 2:30 p.m., four hours later, I had not received any treatment plan or follow-up regarding the procedure recommended by the periodontist. When I called the office, I was told the manager was in a meeting and that I “should have it by the end of the day.” I am extremely concerned that while physically present in the office, I was not assisted in the same manner as other patients, was required to wait without communication, and was dismissed with a promise of an email that has yet to be delivered. When I requested to speak with an office manager, I was informed that the individual involved in this interaction is the only manager on site. When I asked who she reports to, I was told that a note could be left for her to provide that information to me via email. This experience reflects a consistent lack of communication, organization, and professionalism.
It’s hard to find a dentist you can truly trust. Unfortunately, this one is not it. I cannot recommend this practice. I came in for a routine cleaning in August. After taking X-rays, I was left waiting for about forty minutes before being handed a “comprehensive treatment plan” totaling over $10,000, while still lying on the treatment chair. The staff were eager and persistent about recommending procedures I did not need, including the removal of my wisdom teeth (which have never bothered me and had always been considered fine by previous dentists), as well as replacing a crown that was placed in 2021 and has been functioning perfectly. The cleaning itself was fine. However, the aggressive upselling and recommendations for what I felt were unnecessary procedures left a very bitter impression. After I declined the treatment plan, I was not given any personalized dental health advice, which makes me wonder if they actually care about patients dental health. I also found it strange that the office displays a sign offering small gifts for five-star reviews. Additionally, I previously saw a one-star review mentioning pushy sales tactics from this past summer, which seems to have disappeared. It raises questions about how reviews are being managed. Overall, while the staff were polite, the experience felt more like a sales pitch than a dental visit.
Excellent care, support, and service at Dentists of Old Torrance! Wow, first impression: the lobby was nice and clean, modern, new construction, and I was greeted and helped promptly at the front desk. Everyone was so friendly and since it was my first time, they recommended I fill out a questionnaire online in advance of my appointment so I got checked in right away. I met Jennifer and Dr. Arid and from the start I knew I was in good hands. Jennifer was very patient and kind to answer all my questions as I was a little nervous going to the dentist. Their imaging equipment included a digital x-ray so the whole experience went by quick and seamless. Dr. Arid made me feel at ease during the consultation, and when it was time for my procedure, I didn’t feel any pain! Incredible work. I would definitely recommend to all my friends and family. This is a great team of professionals and you can tell they take pride in their work and treat their coworkers and patients alike with respect and dignity. I look forward to stopping by again…and I never thought I would say that about the dentist office! LOL Thanks again Dr. Arid & Jennifer and the amazing team at Dentists of Old Torrance, you care and it shows!!
